Tan Chitqua (1723–1796), Frau mit Kind im Arm, ca. 1775 IMG

This wooden sculpture of a woman holding a child is generally attributed to the Chinese artist Tan Chitqua (1723–1796). He was one of the first Chinese artists ever to live and work in England, between 1769 and 1772. This small piece, possibly a portrait of a European visitor to China, was made ca. 1775 in Canton.
