Soho House in Birmingham was the home of Matthew Boulton, a manufacturer and business partner of Scottish engineer James Watt. Soho House was a meeting place of the Lunar Society, which encouraged links between industrialists and those who promoted the new sciences. Among the most prominent members were Benjamin Franklin, Josiah Wedgwood and Erasmus Darwin.
