On August 6th 1762, the parlement of Paris issued several definitive decrees against the Society of Jesus stating that its constitutions were incompatible with the laws and customs of the realm and that in consequence, the order was inadmissible in France. The Jesuits were barred from the admission of novices, and the Jesuit colleges were to be closed down. The anonymous broadsheet presents an abridged version of the decrees framed with allegorical illustrations of the alleged crimes and vices of the order.
